Acclimatization
Since many of these treks are at high altitudes, it is essential to spend a few days acclimatizing in Cusco before starting any trek.
It is recommended to spend at least two days in Cusco to allow your body to gradually adapt to the altitude. Drink plenty of water and avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine consumption during the first few days at altitude.

For these treks it is advisable to hire experienced tour guides and reputable tour companies. Local guides know the routes, culture and history of the region well, which guarantees a safe and enriching experience.
